Verse 1
Sharp as a sword
Fast as an arrow
The tongue boasts of joy
While framing sorrow
Crafted by my heart’s state
Bitter, vile and grim
Yet Christ in Me
Only all for Him
Verse 2
See such a flame
Started by one spark
The tongue lashes pain
Leaving its deep mark
Evil tempts of sweetness
Sour proves its end
O Christ in me
Conquer this, my sin
Verse 3
Dark, cold and weak
My heart has owned it
Even before I speak
Lord, You have known it
Rid my words of poison
Keep my lips from wrong
Master me, Lord
Be my only song
Verse 4
Truth will endure
Lies are found worthless
But lips that are pure
Soothe and sow goodness
Let me speak choice silver
Healing words that mend
All for my Lord
Only all for Him
Verse 5
Sing of His grace
Tell of His mercy
Oh to declare His praise
For He is holy
Every tongue will confess
Every knee will bend
All for my Lord
Only all for Him

But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.
James 3:8-10
